Hair Inspiration from International Fashion Week Couture 2023

Valentino Couture 2023: “The inspiration for Valentino was Romanesque, so for the hair, we used the jewelry that was made for the collection as a crown. First, I prepped the hair with Redken’s satinwear 02 and then created a natural center part and blow-dried the hair using a round brush. Next, I put a very natural movement through the hair using a large barrel curling iron. The crown was then placed on the head and secured by twisting side sections of the hair around the sides and back of the jewelry. Last, the back length of the hair was braided into a low loose braid using Redken’s braid aid 08 for extra grip.” – Guido

GET THE LOOK

1. Apply a nickel-size amount of Redken satinwear 02 prepping blow-dry lotion to damp hair
2. Use fingers to create a natural part and then blow-dry using a round brush
3. Bend random sections of hair around a 1-1/2 inch curling iron to add natural movement
4. Place desired jewelry on head and secure by twisting sections of hair around it and adding hair pins if needed
5. Apply a nickel-size amount of Redken braid aid 08 braid defining lotion from mid-lengths to ends of hair and then create a low, loose braid
6. Finish with a mist of Redken wind blown 05 dry finishing spray all over for an airy, windswept effect

DOLCE & GABBANA
Couture 2023

Dolce & Gabbana Couture 2023: “The hair for Dolce & Gabbana was dependent on the headpiece made for each girl. I prepped the hair with Redken’s guts 10, and then created a center part before styling various types of chignons, loose Sicilian knots, braided knots and loose buns.” – Guido

GET THE LOOK

1. Spray Redken pillow proof blow dry express primer all over damp hair and comb through
2. Apply a quarter-size amount of Redken guts 10 volumizing spray-foam mousse to damp hair, working into the hair from roots to ends
3. Blow dry hair smooth using a flat brush
4. Apply a nickel-size amount of Redken braid aid 08 braid defining lotion from mid-lengths to ends of hair
5. Twist the length of the hair into a knot or chignon and secure with small hair pins
6. Finish with a thorough mist of Redken control addict 28 high control hairspray for extra hold
7. Place desired headpiece, hat or accessory on head and secure with small hair pins if necessary

VERSACE
Couture 2023

Versace Couture 2023: “The look at Versace is very romantic, but still a little tough and rock ‘n’ roll. The girls look like beautiful nymphs in gorgeous dresses with leafy, whimsical headbands. It feels a little ’70s in a way with the natural hair textures and long, loose waves that I roughed up a bit with Redken’s wind blown 05 dry finishing spray for a fantasy-like finish.” – Guido

GET THE LOOK

1. Start with clean hair by washing with Redken Frizz Dismiss Sulfate-Free Shampoo and Conditioner
2. Use a fine-tooth comb to create a clean center part
3. Mist Redken fashion waves 07 sea salt spray all over hair for added texture, and then allow to air dry
4. Bend small sections of hair around a 1-inch curling iron to add body and movement
5. Spray Redken wind blown 05 dry finishing spray all over hair to enhance the natural texture

Dior Couture 2023: “The inspiration for Dior couture was ‘the garden of earthy delights’ – sensuality, innocence and paintings from the Renaissance period. The look for the hair was inspired by a Botticelli painting. Starting with freshly washed hair, I applied a spritz of Redken’s fashion waves 07 sea salt spray and then used a mixture of sizes of curling irons to create a natural, but random texture in the hair. It was a child-like, soft wave.” – Guido

GET THE LOOK

1. Start with clean hair by washing with Redken Frizz Dismiss Sulfate-Free Shampoo and Conditioner
2. Use fingers to create a natural part
3. Mist Redken fashion waves 07 sea salt spray all over for added texture, scrunch into hair and allow to air dry
4. Bend small sections of hair around various sized curling irons (1/2 inch to 1-1/2 inch barrels) to add body and movement
5. Spray Redken wind blown 05 dry finishing spray all over hair to enhance the natural texture
